What is my IP address?
Your IP address is a unique number assigned to your internet connection by your ISP. It identifies your device on the internet, like a return address for data packets.
What is the difference between IPv4 and IPv6?
IPv4 addresses are 32-bit numbers written as four groups (e.g. 192.168.1.1). IPv6 addresses are 128-bit, written in hexadecimal (e.g. 2001:db8::1). IPv6 was created because IPv4 addresses are running out.
Can websites see my real IP address?
Yes — every website you visit receives your IP in the HTTP request. VPNs and proxies mask your real IP with the VPN server's IP. Tor routes through multiple hops, making tracking very difficult.
