What is BPM?

BPM (Beats Per Minute) measures musical tempo — how many beats occur in one minute. 60 BPM = 1 beat per second. Most pop music is 90–130 BPM.

Tap the Tap button repeatedly to the beat of a song. The metronome calculates the average BPM from your taps.

What BPM is a good practice tempo?

Start 20–30 BPM slower than your target tempo for a piece. Once you can play it cleanly at slow speed, gradually increase BPM until you reach performance tempo.
