How do I rotate an image online?

What is the difference between flip and rotate?
Flip mirrors the image along an axis (horizontal flip = mirror left-right; vertical flip = mirror top-bottom). Rotate turns the image by an angle.
Why is my photo sideways?
Smartphones store orientation in EXIF metadata. Some apps ignore this and display the raw pixels. Rotating 90° and saving corrects the display orientation.
