What are invisible characters?

  • Zero-width spaces (U+200B) — break words without visible space, cause bugs in code.
  • BOM (U+FEFF) — byte order mark, often found at the start of files copied from Windows.
  • RTL/LTR marks (U+200E/200F) — directional overrides that can be used for spoofing URLs.
  • Various Unicode spaces — en/em/thin/hair spaces that look like regular spaces but aren't.
  • • This tool detects 57+ invisible Unicode characters and removes them.
